Essentially Dead

"Your finger has definately been damaged," she responded.

"Damaged?"

"Yes. It should not be black at the tip there."

"I was thinking that myself."

"Any loss of feeling in that hand?"

Thomas thought back to the waiting room and responded with a slow, "No."

"Then perhaps it is nothing."

"Perhaps?"

"I wouldn't really worry unless you start to feel numbness in that hand or arm. Or if the black area grows significantly."

"How significantly?"

"Like your arm or hand."

"And numbness."

"Well, if the your arm has turned completely black you will likely not have any feeling in it. Nor will it be of much use to you."

"Not much use?"

"It will essentially be dead."
